A dismissed warden of Tihar Jail was among four members of a gang who were arrested from south Delhi for allegedly robbing hawala operators, police said.

They were masquerading as policemen.
The accused identified as Sandeep Kumar (36), the dismissed Tihar Jail warden and the gang leader, Mukesh (25), Nayeemuddin (29) and Jagjit Singh (36) were arrested from Jor Bagh-Lodhi Road in south Delhi on Friday.
“They preferred to strike against traders who also deal in illegal hawala transactions as such people hesitate to come forward to lodge a formal complaint,” said HGS Dhaliwal, deputy commissioner of police (south).
With their arrest, 15 cases of abduction, kidnapping, robberies, snatching and cases under the Arms Act have been solved. Three pistols with live cartridges, one knife and three vehicles were recovered.
