Four men held with 1.4kg heroin

Four men, including a Kashmiri youth who holds a diploma in flying from an institute in the Phillipines, were arrested from southeast Delhi with 1.4 kg of heroin that they allegedly used to supply young professionals, police said on Wednesday.

The Special Cell, which made the arrest, said that the amount of contraband seized from the gang was estimated to be worth around Rs 1.5 crore in the international market.

"We made the arrest from near the Sarai Kale Khan Bus Terminal after receiving an intelligence that a gang of drug traffickers, including some hailing from Kashmir, were involved in smuggling drugs from western Uttar Pradesh and adjacent areas before it was peddled at rave parties by a Delhi-based supplier," said Arun Kampani, deputy commissioner of police (special cell).

According to police, the arrested have been identified as Munib Bhatt, 23, the supposed mastermind and his associates from Kashmir, Mohammad Irfan Khan, 25, Manzoor Ahmed, 36, and Mohammad Kamil who hails from Pilibhit in Uttar Pradesh.

Police said Bhatt had used his professional connections to expand the trade.

"Since he works at a call centre, he was in the proximity of the Capital's youth that participates in the abuse of hard drugs at private parties. He used this connection to his advantage," the officer said.

"We have arrested the four men under the NDPS Act and further investigation into their links and network in the city is underway," DCP Kampani added.
