Starting May 21, the 5.8 km Ambedkar Nagar-Moolchand stretch of the Lala Lajpat Rai Marg will start working as a Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) corridor again.

With this, buses will ply in the segregated lane along the central verge while cars, two-wheelers and other commercial vehicles will move together in the remaining two lanes.
On Saturday, scientists at the Central Road Research Institute - the agency asked by the high court to study traffic pattern on the BRT corridor - said their trial run on the corridor was over and they were handing over the road stretch to the transport department and DIMTS.
"Our trial run is over. During our experiment, we found that the delay time reduced and the speed of vehicles increased along the corridor. We have already submitted the interim report to the court. We will submit a comprehensive report to the court in a month's time," said S Velmurugan, senior scientist with CRRI, who headed the team.
As the signalling system of the corridor was changed to run mix vehicular traffic, the system will have to be reprogrammed to make it sync with the bus rapid system, said officials.
