Singh had recently told media that Ajay Sancheti, business partner of Gadkari, has earned a profit of Rs 490 crore from coal mines allocation in Chhattisgarh.

Referring to various media reports, the notice said that the "defamatory, scandalous, false and reckless statements and news items have been widely published, circulated and read by public at large and have lowered the dignity of my client in the eyes of the public."

Gadkari asked Singh to tender apology for the statement within three days of receipt of the legal notice or face legal action.

In his reaction, Singh said he has not got the notice and normally does not respond to legal notices.,

"If Gadkari files a case in the court, then I will respond in the court," he said.
