Gogoi meets Krishna, discusses China's plans on Brahmaputra

Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi today met External Affairs Minister S M Krishna and requested him to take up with China its proposed plans to divert the course of Brahmaputra River.

Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi today met External Affairs Minister S M Krishna and requested him to take up with China its proposed plans to divert the course of Brahmaputra River.

Gogoi had said that he was "very concerned" about the reports as any diversion in the course of the river will affect Assam's agricultural economy. Krishna had said on Monday that his Ministry was seeking more details from China on these reports.

The Brahmaputra, which enters India from Tibet, is considered the lifeline of Assam.
