While the newly-elected mayor, senior deputy mayor and deputy mayor claimed that they were not invited for the meeting, the municipal commissioner countered the claim saying that the invitation for the meeting could not be sent to the trio as none of them was in town.

The meeting was chaired by the minister of state for agriculture, cooperatives and sports, Sukhbir Kataria, who represents Gurgaon constituency in the state assembly.

No, we were not informed or invited either for the Monday meeting, all the three said univocally, when contacted one by one individually. Mayor Vimal Yadav, senior deputy mayor Yashpal Batra and deputy mayor Parminder Kataria, all supported by a Congress MP Rao Inderjit Singh, were elected to their respective posts through secrete ballot voting process on June 21.
Mayor, senior deputy mayor and deputy mayor happen to be the president, vice president and member respectively of the 5-member crucial Finance and Contract Committee that decides on various developmental projects to be carried out in the municipal corporation area.

The municipal commissioner happens to be one of the members of the committee.
