BJP on Sunday condemned the statement of JD(S) chief H D Deve Gowda against Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa saying the former prime minister had shamed democracy and demanded a public apology from him.

"The use of abusive language by Deve Gowda against Yeddyureppa is downright condemnable and shameful for democracy.
"Gowda has been a former prime minister -- though he reached that position by accident -- yet any occupant on that post, current or former, is required to maintain the sanctity and prestige of that position both in conduct and utterances," party spokesperson Ravi Shankar Prasad said.
BJP demanded a public apology from Gowda.
"By showering choicest abuse on Yeddyureppa, an elected chief minister and holder of a constitutional post, Gowda has only shamed the democracy of the country," Prasad said.
