The high court on Wednesday allowed the Delhi Development Authority to auction 110 flats in the Commonwealth Games Village which was mired in a controversy over excess floor-area ratio.

DDA counsel Ajay Verma submitted before Justice Hima Kohli that completion certificates had been issued for 30 of the 34 towers in the Games Village. Conveyance deeds have been issued for 392 flats, Verma told the court. The completion certificates of four towers — numbers 5, 15, 26 and 28 — have been kept on hold in view of the FAR dispute.
The court, while giving the green light for the auction of the 110 flats, asked the DDA to take “all necessary steps” and allowed it to issue advertisements and invite bids.
On April 5, the court had rapped the urban development ministry, DDA and the builders for continuing to scuffle over excess FAR, resulting in a delay in handing over the Games Village flats to buyers.
The DDA was asked to issue power of attorney to developers Emaar-MGF for all towers to expedite handing over of possession of flats to buyers. This was after the builders gave an assurance that they were ready to pay R16. 20 crore as extra FAR charges.
