HC seeks response from Delhi Govt over fee hike

Terming the fee hike by private unaided schools as "highly objectionable", the Delhi High Court today sought a response from the city government.

Terming the fee hike by private unaided schools as "highly objectionable", the Delhi High Court on Wednesday sought a response from the city government. Issuing notice to the government through the Education Department, a divison bench comprising Chief Justice A P Shah and Justice Sanjeev Khanna, Delhi High Court has asked it to file its reply by April 29.

"This (hike in fees) is highly objectionable. Let there be some examination on the whole aspect," the Bench observed while hearing a PIL."Have the schools followed the mandatory provision of law with regard to their account," the Bench asked.

Appearing for the Parents' Association, Counsel Ashok Aggarwal told the Court that the government had gone contrary to the recommendation given by S L Bansal Committee, constituted to look into the fee hike of schools.

The Court has asked the NCT government to place on record the entire Committee report by the next date of hearing.
