And for two days, officials and Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel at Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport were on their toes.

The culprit: a 19-year-old youth appearing for his Class XII board exams.

On Wednesday, the student, Debashish Banerjee (19), was arrested by the IGI police in Kolkata for allegedly making the hoax calls. He had claimed that bombs were planted inside two flights of Indigo airlines on on March 12 and 13.

The police said that the youth allegedly made these calls out of boredom, as he was not able to sleep at night and was

bored of studying.

He claimed bombs were planted on Delhi-Bangalore and Delhi-Mumbai flights.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (IGI) O.P. Mishra said both these calls were initially received at the call centre of the airline and were traced to a Kolkata mobile number.

The two calls were made on the toll-free number of the airline call centre.

Banerjee told the police he had given the phone to his son Debasish who was appearing for his board examinations.

An FIR report against Debasish has been filed in Dwarka court for making mischievous and false information under different sections.
