Wednesday's rain spelled doom for cars on the Gurgaon Expressway where hundreds of vehicles were stranded in a mile-long traffic jam.

Most affected was the Delhi stretch of the expressway where vehicles drove on the wrong side, as the subway heading towards Dwarka were submerged in rain water.
According to the officials of the corridor, heavy rains resulted in heavy water logging in the subway leading towards Dwarka. The situation turned for the worst around 7 p.m. when desperate motorists started driving in the wrong direction on the expressway to reach their destinations.
The Dwarka-bound vehicular traffic coming from Delhi side used Rajokari crossing to go against the normal flow of traffic. This resulted in chaos and traffic jam on this stretch too. It was only around 11 p.m. that the traffic jam started to ease.
Meanwhile in Delhi, Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit was one of hundreds of people who got stuck in a massive traffic jam at ITO for long time.
