The ministry has asked the states and UTs to take all precautionary measures in view of the blasts, an MHA spokesman said.

Home Ministry has alerted states, UTs to step up vigil states and union territories asking them to remain vigilant and step up security following the serial blasts in the national capital which claimed several lives.

Soon after the blasts at half a dozen places, the ministry dispatched expert teams to examine the sites.

Home Minister Shivraj Patil condemned the blasts and expressed sympathies to the families of those killed and prayed for speedy recovery of the injured.

Health authorities have also been alerted to ensure availability of medical facilities in hospitals and ambulances in the capital.
