Hunt on for godman who provoked accused

The accused, Pawan Kumar, was so much under the influence of his spiritual guru that he developed interest in ‘occultism’ and had started practising the ‘black magic’ at home.

The recovery of some materials from his room gave the police reasons to believe that Kumar was practicing ‘black magic’.

The move to prosecute the godman comes after the police learnt that Kumar had visited him in UP’s Hapur with his two close friends, Tarun and Navin, a day before the incident.

Kumar had shot at his wife, Deepti, and father-in-law, Bisan Das, at the entrance of the Karkaduma Metro station. While Deepti died, Das is battling for his life at GTB hospital.

“Questioning of the two friends revealed that Kumar had planned the killing of his father-in-law on the advice of his spiritual guru. We are planning to send a team to Hapur to pick up the ‘godman’. He would be arrested for criminal conspiracy if it is established that he had provoked Kumar,” said a senior police officer.

“The next morning his body was found hanging from a tree near Muradnagar railway station. A piece of paper in which he had written his name and residential address helped in his identification,” the officer said refuting allegations of Kumar’s family who alleged that he was hanged by Deepti’s family.
