Delhi’s new transport minister, Arvinder Singh Lovely, says phasing out Blueline buses will be his main priority.

“Though the transport portfolio is new to me, I’m sure on one count: as transport minister I’ll make sure that Blueline buses are phased out at the earliest. I’ll work round the clock to ensure this,” he said on Monday — a day when a Blueline bus crushed two men to death near Pragati Maidan.
Lovely said he would soon call a meeting of the transport department to discuss the modalities of phasing out Bluelines.
The Delhi government’s plan to phase out Bluelines and introduce a corporate-style private bus network in the capital was to be completed by October 2009. But Delhi government officials now admit that phasing out might not be possible even by the 2010 Commonwealth Games.
