Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University increased its annual fees by 75% this academic session. There are 11 University Schools of Studies (USS) under the university, in which around 5,000 students are enrolled.

This is the first time since 2011-12 that the fee has been revised.

Students enrolled this year will have to pay R 70,000 instead of R 40,000.

“Revised fee structures for affiliated institutes are available on our websites, www.ipu.ac.in and www.ipuadmissions.nic.in,” said the university.

Officials said the board of management (BOM) approved the decision to revise the fee in June.

The admission fee that the self-financing institutes charged has also been revised, based on the recommendations of the Delhi Fee Regulatory Committee.

“Fee has been hiked by around 20-25% in private affiliated institutes,” an official said.

The Directorate of Higher Education has issued a notification to 74 affiliated institutes.

Officials said if any affiliated institute charged more money than what was notified, action would be taken.

“Some students and parents informed the university that some affiliated institutes are charging more than the notified fee. They are seeking this money in the name of revised fee structures. The university will act against them,” said officials.

The Delhi government constituted a State Fee Regulatory Committee in February 2013 to determine fee in private institutions in Delhi.
