‘Inflation has hit us the most’

The BJP, which has already declared Vijay Kumar Malhotra as its Chief Ministerial candidate, said its list of candidates for most of the seats would be declared next week, reports HT correspondent.

“We would finalise the list at our level (state level) within a week and send it to the national level committee. In all probabilities, names of a majority of the candidates would be declared by the 23rd or 24th of this month,” Malhotra said here.

The three criterions for selection of candidates would be ‘winning ability’, ‘track record in the party’ and ‘personal image’, Malhotra told Hindustan Times.

The party will try to give tickets to as many female candidates as possible, he added.

The senior party leader from South Delhi was critical of the Congress government on the issue of terrorism as he alleged, “The Congress is supporting terrorism … be it the case of Parliament attack, the Batla House operation or for that matter any other terror act. For instance, (Chief Minister Sheila) Dikshit has herself stated that there should be an inquiry into the operation wherein inspector M.C. Sharma died. What does this show?”

The other issues include regularisation of unauthorised colonies. Calling the very word ‘provisional’ fraud, Malhotra said, “This is betrayal of the unauthorised colony residents. Provisional certificate is an eyewash and the Congress is committing a fraud by such measures.”

He also held the Congress government responsible for “unscientific planning”, which he said is the reason for the faulty implementation of the BRT corridor.
