Key govt websites yet to recover from No.2 row

The list of cabinet ministers — deactivated following the alleged controversy over agriculture minister Sharad Pawar's “position” in the cabinet — is still missing from two key government websites: that of the Prime Minister and the cabinet secretary.

The two official websites, however, shows the list of ministers of states (MoS) with and without independent charges. The cabinet secretary’s website has also put up the newly constituted GoMs and EGoMs but has failed to activate the link on the cabinet ministers till Wednesday evening.Official sources claimed the Prime Minister's website is "under renovation".

Sharad Pawar and Praful Patel, the two NCP ministers in the UPA cabinet had skipped a cabinet meeting on July 19 over a host of issues. The NCP’s

boycott had also come after Pawar had to sit on his usual chair (third from the Prime Minister's seat) while defence minister AK Antony took Pranab Mukherjee's vacant chair-next to the PM.

Amid the absence of the two NCP ministers from office for almost two weeks, Antony clarified that in cabinet, barring the PM, all other ministers were equal. Some Congress managers had suggested creating an alphabetical order in ministers list to avoid any controversy.

On July 25, the NCP and Congress brass met and decided to form a co-ordination committee of the UPA. Patel had also announced that an amicable solution has been reached on all issues involving the two partners.
