In a letter to social activist Anna Hazare, Khurshid denied all the allegations levelled by Team Anna that he had "misused his official position to help certain private parties ward off charges of malfeasance" in the allocation of 2G spectrum.

"At no stage was there any occasion for the professional opinion of officials to be overruled by me as minister, and I most certainly stand by the position I endorsed, I believe if I had done anything else I would have been dishonest and callous about the consequences to the system of justice that I am obligated to protect and preserve without fear or fervour," he wrote.

Khurshid was all praise for Hazare's anti-corruption (Lokpal) movement. “Your contribution was considerable to the movement forward after years of failure to arrive at an acceptable consensus in the country,” he said.

"I imagine there would be a few better examples of people in glass houses should not throw stones," he said, referring to Team Anna.

Khurshid had a word of advice for the social activist. "There is still time for you to bring the movement back to its legitimate path, devoid of personal egos and unwholesome self-serving agents," he said.
