Killer bus claims Delhi policeman's life

Harbans Lal was crushed under the wheels of the bus after he disembarked near the Tilak Marg police station.

Search was on for the absconding driver of a city bus after it ran over a Delhi Police head constable on Saturday.

Victim, Harbans Lal, 47, was killed near the Tilak Marg police station, not far from the city's business hub of Connaught Place. He was crushed under the wheels of the slow moving bus after he disembarked from the vehicle.

Lal, who was posted at the Delhi High Court, is survived by his wife and five children. According to police, he was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. "We have impounded the bus and the search is on to apprehend the absconding driver and his helper," a senior official said.
