External Affairs Minister S M Krishna will be traveling to Beijing on April 5 to formally inaugurate the India Festival in China and to interact with Chinese leadership to give an impetus to bilateral ties.

The India Festival in China and China Festival in India are the major highlights of the celebrations to mark the 60th anniversary of diplomatic ties between the two nations.
Krishna will hold discussions with Chinese leaders and is set to meet Chinese premier Wen Jiabao and his counterpart Yang Jiechi. Foreign Secretary Nirupama Rao will accompany the minister during his trip from April 5 to 8. President Pratibha Patil will be visiting China in May.
“The minister will flag off the celebrations to mark the 60th Anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between India and China,” the MEA said on Monday. Sources said the issue of terrorism will figure prominently among the discussions.
