Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit, Chief Secretary, Police Commissioner and senior Traffic Police officials attended the meeting.

Khanna wanted to know what action had been taken in the recent past to rein in rogue Blueline drivers and what steps the the government intends to take now. The officials could not explain the reasons for deaths on the city’s roads.

Khanna said serving Army personnel would be employed as traffic wardens to enforce traffic discipline among the drivers in Delhi. They would note down the registration numbers of the vehicles which have violated the traffic rules and inform the traffic control room for follow-up action. The traffic warden scheme would be formally launched on Wednesday.

The Delhi BJP said the terror of Blueline buses, which started in July, is increasing despite government inquiries and assurances. “Since the Congress government in Delhi is in economic connivance with the bus operators, no concrete action has been taken against them by the government,” said Delhi BJP President Harsh Vardhan in a statement.
