In a departure from the past, ‘Prof.’ Hafiz Muhammad Saeed, Ameer, Jama’t-ud-Da’wah Pakistan and the alleged chief of the dreaded Lashkar e Tayyeba, has sought to distance himself from the group which carried out the deadly terror attacks in Mumbai last week.

“We would like to clarify once again that Jama’t-ud-Da’wah and Lashkar-e-Tayyeba are two entirely different organisations, and to name Prof. Hafiz Muhammad Saeed as being the head of Lashkar-e-Tayyeba is completely incorrect and untruthful, and a deliberate attempt to mislead people,” Saeed’s spokesperson, Abdullah Muntazir was quoted as saying on the terror group’s (unofficial) website, www.jamatdawah.org.
Saeed’s name figures in the list of fugitives India handed over to Pakistan on Monday night.
