Light rains in some parts of the city on Wednesday evening brought down the mercury and provided the much-needed relief from the hot and humid condition.

The Met office said the city is likely to experience more showers on Thursday which is expected to bring down the mercury — maximum temperature was recorded at 42.3 degree Celsius on Wednesday.
The rains started at around 9.10pm in the evening in some parts of the city.
"It is a welcome shower. It has provided some relief from the searing heat," said Anu Prakash, a resident of Bhogal in south Delhi.
Met officials said the minimum temperature came down several notches following the rains but could not give a proper figure.
Yesterday, the maximum temperature had soared to 44.1 degrees celsius — highest of the season so far.
