Lt Gen Suhag replies to show cause notice

Lt Gen Suhag in his reply filed on May 31 has explained the handling of the entire episode by the 3 Corps headquarters and the actions taken by it, sources close to the 3 Corps Commander said here.

The notice was issued to the officer, who can head the Army in 2014, on May 19 by Gen VK Singh to respond to the charges of "abdicating responsibility" in handling an intelligence and surveillance unit under his command in a "most unprofessional and lackadaisical manner".

Lt Gen Suhag was earlier given only seven days to respond to the notice but was later given ten more days to do so after the Defence Ministry sought a detailed reply form the Army Headquarters about the entire episode.

The post is lying vacant since Gen Bikram Singh moved from there five days ago to take over as the chief of Army staff.
