‘Maldives, Lanka important to us’

PM Manmohan Singh expressed concern over the “political instability” in the Maldives and said India would continue to monitor the situation there as it was for a democratic and prosperous nation.
Also, despite intense pressure from ally DMK, he maintained suspense over India’s position on the resolution on human rights to be moved against Sri Lanka at the UNHRC, saying it will depend on final draft. HTC
