Railway Minister Mamata Banerjee flagged off three new Durontos — fastest trains, cheapest tickets — on Wednesday.

The new Durontos are the New Delhi-Howrah bi-weekly, the New Delhi-Bhubaneswar weekly, and Delhi Sarai Rohilla-Jammu Tawi tri-weekly. With this, Mamata fulfilled the promise she made in last year’s rail budget.
The Duronto runs non-stop (except a few operational halts) between two cities.
Duranto services are already available from Delhi to Sealdah, Chennai, Pune, Lucknow, Allahabad, Ernakulam and Secunderabad.
“All the announcements regarding introduction of new trains made in the railway budget 2009-10 have been fulfilled within eight months,” Banerjee said. “We have introduced a record number of 117 trains this financial year.”
