So, when she, all of 23 and employed as a marketing executive in a Gurgaon firm, decided to call off their relationship with Vishwajeet Singh, 28, he assaulted her with a knife and a screwdriver on Thursday night.

“Singh, who works as an insurance agent at a reputed MNC in Gurgaon, had gone to his girlfriend’s residence in Mahipalpur’s K block to convince her to change her mind. When she didn’t, Singh attacked her on the neck and abdomen with a knife and screwdriver,” said Chhaya Sharma, deputy commissioner of police (south).

Singh, who pursued his MBA in insurance from a government institute in Rajasthan, has been arrested while the victim is recuperating from the loss of excess blood and deep gashes at a private medical facility in south Delhi.

The couple, hailing from Bihar’s Sesa and Purnia districts, had been known to each other for more than half a decade and had decided to come to the Capital together.

“His aggressive nature forced her to rethink the relationship. What made it worse was the fact that she decided to suspend all contact with Singh for three months,” said an officer.
