Man found dead in Delhi's Tihar jail

A 21-year-old man facing murder charges was found hanging in his cell in Tihar jail in the wee hours.

A 21-year-old man facing murder charges was found hanging in his cell in Tihar jail in the wee hours on Friday.

Ashok, a resident of Gwalior in Madhya Pradesh, was found hanging from a fan at around one am in Jail No 7 and the reason behind him taking the "extreme step" was not known, jail officials said.

He was arrested on May nine in connection with a murder in Keerti Nagar in the capital, they said, adding his family was informed.

A magisterial inquiry wsa ordered into the incident.
