MCD gets Rs 143 cr from Delhi govt for policy reforms

The government is supposed to give MCD 5.5% of its earnings as funds for the upkeep for the city. But since the last four years, ever since such an order was made by the finance commission, the government has been paying only 4% deducting 1.5%.

The Rs 143 crore made up for the other 1.5%, taking the total to 5.5% as is the rule.

On Tuesday, the civic agency received a cheque of Rs 143 crore from the Delhi government as 1.5% share of the global share out of 5.5% share as recommended by the Third Finance Commission.

Claiming it as a major achievement for BJP led MCD, chairman of Standing Committee of the MCD Yogender Chandolia and Leader of the MCD House Subhash Arya said that BJP has carried out many reforms during the previous years and many more are in the pipeline.

They said that the major areas of municipal reforms are e-governance, e-initiative, introduction bio-metric system of attendance, reforms in property tax system, financial reforms budgetary reforms, etc.
