Yogender Chandolia, chairman of MCD Standing Committee, on Friday said that sealing at special areas such as Karol Bagh and Gaffar Market will be stopped till the time the redevelopment plan is not prepared in accordance with the Master Plan Delhi 2021.
Over the last few weeks, the markets and guesthouses located at the areas were being sealed for illegal land usage.

According to Chandolia, the decision was taken in consultation with the Lieutenant Governor. “The monitoring committee of the Supreme Court had told Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) to send notices to guesthouses that had less than 6 metres right of way. However, we wrote to the LG saying that even in Paharganj, guesthouses are operating at less that 6 metres right of way. Since both Paharganj and Karol Bagh fall in special areas, we asked him to show some laxity,” he said.
