The Construction and Demolition Waste Recycling Plant at Burari area in north-west Delhi will be the pilot project of an ambitious scheme of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi where 500 metric tonnes of ‘malba´ will be recycled daily.

Commissioner KS Mehra said, "This will help in scientific disposal and re-use of the huge amount of construction waste generated daily in the national capital. The plant will start functioning from next week."

In Delhi, about 2000 metric tonnes of waste is generated every day and the project is one of the means the civic agency is taking up for their proper treatment.

The project is being undertaken in a public-private- partnership basis and IL&FS has been chosen as the operator for the project.

“It will install and operate a ‘mobile crushing facility´ to handle approximately 500 tonnes waste per day from various parts of the city,” Mehra said.
