Mercury five notches above normal in Delhi

Continuing the spell of pleasant weather, the minimum temperature in the national capital today remained five notches above normal to settle at 12 degrees Celsius.

Continuing the spell of pleasant weather, the minimum temperature in the national capital today remained five notches above normal to settle at 12 degrees Celsius.

A low of 12 degrees Celsius was recorded on Sunday compared to Saturday's 12.6 degrees C, the Met Office said.

The Weathermen predicted a partly cloudy sky for the day and said the maximum temperature will hover around 24 degrees Celsius.

The maximum temperature on Saturday settled at 24 degrees Celsius, three notches above normal, they said.

The humidity for the day was recorded at a maximum of 93 per cent while the minimum settled at 42 per cent, the Met office said.

January this year has been warmer so far as compared to last year when the minimum dropped below five degrees a number of times. The season's lowest temperature was recorded on January 2 when the minimum dipped to four degrees.

The lowest temperature during the month was recorded in 1935 when the temperature fell to -0.6 degrees Celsius. The minimum in 2006 had slumped to 0.2 degrees Celsius.
