The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation Managing Director, Dr E Shreedharan, on Tuesday wrote to Lt Governor of Delhi and the Commissioner of Police.

He drew their attention on police inaction against FIRs registered by the DMRC in connection with stone incidents in east Delhi.
The letter comes a day after yet another stone throwing incident on Monday, which damaged a power transformer. This caused electric short-circuit between Shashtri Park and Seelampur on the Dilshad Garden-Rithala line and disrupted metro services for more than three hours.
In all 12 round trips were cancelled and eight others were delayed because of this.
“Such stone throwing incidents have been happening repeatedly between Shahdara, Seelampur, Welcome and Shashtri Park. As many as five incidents have already happened this year wherein metro train doors, windshields and glasses were damaged,” DMRC Chief Public Relations Officer Anuj Dayal said.
Urchins from unauthorised settlements opposite of Metro tracks between Shahdara and Welcome regularly throw stones on metro trains.
