Delhi labour, industries and environment minister Ramakant Goswami on Saturday wrote to union urban development minister Kamal Nath for speeding up the relocation of 4,000 families of west Delhi’s Kathputli slum colony.

“He (Goswami) wrote about the delay in the construction of flats for the 4,000 families, highlighting the plight of the poor residents who have been impatiently waiting to move into new homes,” an official said.
As per the Delhi Development Authority’s (DDA) slum makeover plan, the Kathputli Colony, which derives its name from roadside artists, musicians, puppeteers and others living there, will be given a makeover and its residents rehabilitated.
According to officials, the residents were feeling deceived as the relocation was looking illusive. “He will also take up this matter with the lieutenant governor of Delhi,” added the official.
