Minister has stake in Setu project too, says Swamy

Swamy claims to have incriminating evidence against Baalu, who allegedly pushed the of the project in its present form for his private interest, reports Bhadra Sinha.

Seeking directions to make TR Baalu a party in pending petitions on the Sethusamudram project before the Supreme Court, Janata Party president and petitioner Subramanium Swamy on Monday moved an application accusing the shipping minister of pushing the project for his “family’s private and pecuniary interests”.

Swamy claims to have incriminating evidence against Baalu, who allegedly pushed the of the project in its present form for his private interest. He has accused Baalu and some members of the DMK, including Kanimozhi, Rajya Sabha MP and daughter of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister K Karunanidhi, to be beneficiaries of the project. According to the Janata Party leader, all of them have financial interests in the firm that is involved in the project.

Swamy has alleged in his application that Baalu and one of his wives has a share in Meenam Fisheries Limited, whose vessels are engaged in the project.
