Minor girl rescued

A 13-year-old girl, who worked as a domestic help, was rescued by Delhi police and an NGO after raiding the premises of a placement agency in northwest Delhi's Shakurbasti.

The raid was conducted to search for another minor girl Rachna (name changed), whose father claims she was brought to Delhi from Jharkhand by a placement agency on the pretext of providing her employment as a help. HT had reported the plight of Budhi Ram Munda whose daughter is missing since 2009. A raid was conducted on Tuesday at the same placement agency.

"Sheela (name changed) was recovered today in a rescue operation by Delhi Police after raiding the premises of a placement agency. This raid gave us possible leads about Rachna's whereabouts,” said a spokesperson of NGO Bachpan Bachao Andolan.

According to sources, Rachna has been trafficked to Solan in Himachal Pradesh.
