Modi hits campaign trail in city

After missing two of his roadshows on Tuesday, Modi finally managed to reach Greater Kailash to address a rally at BJP chief minister candidate VK Malhotra’s constituency. He later addressed a few more rallies in east Delhi.

Accusing Delhi chief minister Sheila Dikshit of intentionally sabotaging the BJP’s campaign, Modi said, “Few months ago I had met Sheila Dikshit and she told me not to come here to campaign. At that time I thought she was joking but today I realised she was very serious. It’s really surprising. Does democracy run like this”?

The Gujarat CM held the Congress government in the city responsible for the deteriorating law and order situation. “Delhi is the National Capital but nobody is safe here – neither senior citizens nor women. It is a real shame,” he said.

Blaming the Congress for using terrorism for vote bank politics, Modi said while on one hand investigations in Malegaon is being deliberately carried out in a shoddy manner, on the other hand despite a brave police officer losing his life in Batla house encounter in Delhi, the authorities are trying to shield terrorist.

Taking a dig at Union home minister Shivraj Patil, he said, “Our home minister was busy doing fashion parade when bomb blasts rocked the Capital.”
