Mona Suri case: Court asks Crime Branch to file probe report

A court in New Delhi asked the Crime Branch of Delhi Police, which has been handed over the probe into the unsolved murder case of fashion designer Mona Suri, to file the status report on October 27.

Metropolitan Magistrate Munish Markan, who was informed that the case has been handed over to the special wing, asked it to file its probe report on the next date of hearing.

Police earlier told the Delhi High Court that no breakthrough has been achieved in the probe and consequently, the matter has been handed over to the Crime Branch on September 24.

Suri, 35, was burnt alive by two motorcycle-borne persons who poured kerosene on her outside her residence at Greater Kailash area in New Delhi on August 12, 2007.

The fashion designer succumbed to her injuries on October 21, 2007. However, the police could neither nab the assailants nor establish the motive behind the murder.

Police, which were asked to intimate the court about the progress in the probe, has been seeking time for concluding the investigation.
