Delhiites need to discipline themselves, as far as driving on the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) corridor is concerned, feels Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit. With traffic problems increasing in the city, the only way out is to create more such corridors, she added.

Talking on Day 2 of the HT Leadership Summit on Saturday, Dikshit shot down all criticisms against the corridor’s introduction. “It’s the first stretch and people are still getting used to it. It is not considered a success by some as they are not used to the discipline of BRT. It’s the best solution to tackle the traffic situation in the city, which has a vehicle population of more than 70 lakh,” she said.
Though the system has received a lot of flak in the past, the government has planned its expansion. A total of 26 BRT corridors in three phases are in the pipeline, with more than 300km being covered by 2020.
