A multi-level parking is likely to come up in south Delhi’s Chittaranjan Park. The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) will table a proposal in this regard in its standing committee meeting to be held on Wednesday.

Earlier, the MCD had floated the proposal to construct a three-tier parking space underneath the mela ground in I block, which was turned down by the Environment Pollution Control Authority (EPCA), the authority that frames policies on such issues.
According to sources, the EPCA had not given the approval, as it thought a parking coming up underneath would ruin the park.
The MCD, however, will again route the proposal because of the heavy movement of traffic. The area is in great need of a systemised parking space, civic body officials said.
Incidentally, none of MCD’s multi-level parking space projects have seen the light of day. As many as 16 such parking lots were to come up in the city at various locations, but none have been constructed so far.
