Mumbai police move for custody again

A day after being refused the custody of alleged 26/11 terror attack handler Abu Jundal, the Mumbai police moved a fresh application before a Delhi court on Thursday seeking Jundal’s custody to confront him with Ajmal Kasab.

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) too has sought his custody for interrogation. Following an order issued this morning by a designated NIA court, the NIA moved the court of chief metropolitan magistrate (CMM) Vinod Yadav seeking a direction for his production before the designated NIA court on July 6. Mumbai police want to make Jundal and Kasab, the lone surviving terrorist involved in the 26/11 attack, to face each other.

The CMM put up the NIA application for hearing on July 4 while Mumbai police’s application will be taken up on July 5.

Jundal, an alleged Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) operative, is believed to have issued directions from a ‘control room’ in Pakistan to 10 terrorists who went on a rampage in Mumbai in November 2008, killing 166, and also allegedly taught Hindi to the 10 terrorists.
