A 50-year-old Narela resident was arrested on Friday for allegedly killing and burning the body of his daughter's lover.

Police said deceased Naresh Rana (27) had eloped with the 15-year-old daughter of Hema Ram in March this year.
The father had lodged a case of kidnapping since his daughter was a minor.
Police said Rana was killed because Ram did not approve of his (Rana’s) relationship with his daughter.
The couple was from different communities.
In March this year, the police registered a case of kidnapping against Rana, who was arrested but later released on bail.
But Rana reportedly went missing a week ago and, on the complaint of his mother, a case was registered at Shahbad dairy police station in outer Delhi.
“Ram's 15-year-old daughter refused to go to her parents' house after she was rescued and chose to stay at a Nari Niketan instead,” said Atul Katiyar, deputy commissioner of police (outer).
Police said this move by his daughter infuriated Ram and he blamed Rana for bringing disrepute to his family’s name.
“During the interrogation, Ram acknowledged that his daughter wanted to live with Rana instead of her family and wanted to marry him,” said the DCP.
“Since the deceased did not belong to his community, Ram felt dishonored and wanted to take revenge.”
On December 16, Ram called Rana to Sector 27 in Rohini in North West Delhi.
“He found Rana at Ghogha Mod in Narela, from where he forcibly took him to their community cluster with the help of his cousin brother Kewa Ram,” said a senior police official.
Police said the duo then assaulted Rana with a lathi, before slitting his throat with a sickle and dumping his motorcycle near the cluster.
The duo then set Rana's body on fire, before dumping the remains in Bhorgarh Phase-II, Industrial Area.
Ram also received some burns on his face, legs and hands while attempting to dispose off Rana's remains, police said.
At Ram's instance, Rana's half burnt corpse was recovered from a drain in Bhorgarh Industrial Area in Narela.
The DCP said, “We have also recovered Rana's motorcycle and the lathi, a cement carrying vessel and a sickle used to kill the man.”
