NDMC slaps fines during dengue prevention drive

The Health Department of the New Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC) has found a slew of breeding grounds for mosquitoes in their areas.

They have also issued challans to a Central Public Works Department (CPWD) assistant engineer and a few police stations in their area for not taking proper precautions to prevent the breeding of mosquitoes.

The Health Department found that there was breeding of mosquitoes in areas like Akbar Road and Feroz Shah Road. Buildings like Arunachal Bhawan and UPSC were also issued challans for not taking precautions to stop the breeding of mosquitoes.

The department had also issued letters to all the MPs before the monsoon season asking them to prevent any kind of mosquito breeding in their areas.

CPWD is the caretaker for all the buildings in Delhi.

Some of the police stations in their area have been also booked for this reason. According to the NDMC, the vehicle impounds owned by them had become a breeding ground for mosquitoes.

NDMC officials said, “The drive was carried out in our areas to see if various agencies were following our guidelines and taking proper precautions. We booked a CPWD assistant engineer because they failed to prevent the breeding of mosquitoes. We have also written a letter to the MPs asking them to take utmost care for the same.”
