The Hindustan Times Study Mate, learning centres for students, will launch a 24-hour subject specific helpline from Monday, to address queries, both subject related and otherwise, of students who will appear for their class 12 board examinations this year. The helpline number — 66561800 — will be operational from Monday and teachers from various Delhi schools as well as Study Mate will be answering the questions of the students.

The teachers have volunteered to be part of the helpline to help the students clear their doubts. The helpline will be answering questions on the following subject — Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Biology, Accountancy and Economics. The helpline line for a subject will open 24 hours before the exam of that subject is scheduled.

There will be 30 lines to the helpline number to ensure that it is easier for students to get through. The calls will be forwarded to psychologists if the student is very stressed.

A Facebook page where questions can be posted will also be launched on Monday.

According to Dr Chhaya, who has been running a similar helpline in Mumbai for the last 10 years, students need to know that someone is awake with them in their time of need.
