Special National Investigation Agency (NIA) judge Subhas Mehla, who was hearing the Samjhauta blasts case, has been transferred to Faridabad.

Now, a notification has to be issued in the name of a new judge who will be hearing the Samjhauta blasts case. The new judge is likely to be additional district and sessions judge Kanchan Mahi.
Civil judge Sanjay Sandhir has been elevated to the post of additional district and sessions judge in place of Mehla.
Charges are yet to be framed in the Samjhauta blasts case and chargesheet against Kamal Chauhan, who is suspected of planting a bomb on Samjhauta train, is yet to be filed.
The next date for hearing in the case is May 29 as time was sought from the defence side to file a rejoinder to the NIA reply on the illegal custody of Chauhan.
A total of four bombs were planted on the Samjhauta train, of which two exploded killing 68 people on February 18, 2007, near Panipat. The train was bound for Lahore.
