“The Samajwadi Party has already put out candidates. So where is the scope for talks,” AICC General Secretary Digvijay Singh told reporters in New Delhi.

The Samajwadi Party has declared candidates for 74 Parliamentary seats out of the 80 constituencies in Uttar Pradesh. The Congress has also announced candidates for 24 seats.

Both the parties were locked in hard bargaining over seat-sharing raising questions over the future of their alliance in Uttar Pradesh.

Singh along with party leader Rita Bahuguna Joshi met Election Commission and complained about “misuse of power” by Mayawati government in Uttar Pradesh for “political gains”.

“The Mayawati government is publishing advertisements which would favour the BSP in the upcoming elections. There are a lot of anomalies in the electoral rolls in Uttar Pradesh,” Joshi said.
