Mayawati enjoys the facility at all airports in UP by virtue of being its chief minister but the aviation ministry is of the view that she does not need the privilege across the country.

The UP government's request cited security threats to Mayawati, sources said.

“CMs, while travelling in other states, are anyway provided a vehicle by airport operators right up to the tarmac,” an aviation ministry official said.

“Moreover, any security threat has to be analysed by central intelligence agencies. After consultations with other agencies, we decided that no exception should be made for the UP chief minister,” the official said.
