A day after RJD’s Lalu Yadav turned the heat on Home Minister Shivraj Patil, it was the turn of another UPA ally, the LJP, to put the beleaguered minister on the mat even as murmurs against him in his own Congress grew louder.

Unlike Lalu, LJP MP Ranjit Ranjan Yadav accused Patil by name of being “too soft” in his fight against terror. "Patil's statement after Delhi serial blasts that he knew about the terror plot before the blasts but was not aware of the sites was quite irresponsible and damaged the UPA government's reputation,” she said.
She stopped short of seeking his resignation. “I am too junior to demand his resignation. But his role after Saturday's blasts cannot be lauded. He needs to change his approach towards terrorism and act hard,” she said in Jalandhar.
