With the introduction of a new admission process this year, parents seemed to be more worried than their children. Most of the questions addressed to the teachers and college principals — who are part of the open days — as well as student volunteers were on the absence of admission forms.

“Parents are anxious. Not many are able to grasp the fact that there will be no pre-admission forms. It is good that they are attending these open days and getting their doubts cleared,” said JM Khurana, dean, students’ welfare.

Under the new admission policy, students are not required to fill any pre-admission form unless they want admission in St Stephen’s College or Jesus and Mary College or if they want admission in a course for which there is an entrance test.

Students applying under the sports or extra curricular activities (ECA) category or under any reserved category, such as SC/ST/physically handicapped, will also have to fill pre-admission forms. Forms for ECA/ Sports candidates will be sold at individual colleges. Trials will take place at the colleges.

Even though the university has decided against selling centralised admission forms, they managed to sell around 2,000 information bulletins on day 1.

“The bulletin has all the information and answers to all question that an individual would have about admissions. I advise students and their parents to buy one and go through it properly,” said Khurana.
