Oppn slams L-G for ‘visionless’ speech

However, with little development to show and almost no big project taken up in the past one year, the L-G ended up reading out old and oft-repeated projects and schemes started by the Congress government in the past three years.

“This is one of the most directionless and visionless speech the L-G has ever given on the floor of the House. With the first speech of the year, the government gives a direction to its policies. But this speech had nothing,” leader of the opposition VK Malhotra said.

Since the L-G’s address every year comes at the beginning of the budget session when the government has already laid down its development plans for the new year, it gives a hint of its vision and priority.

With trifurcation of the municipal corporation on the anvil, the L-G expressed hope that it will help solve day-to-day problems of the residents of Delhi “effectively” and “expeditiously".

“A widely shared desire will be realised shortly with the trifurcation,” Khanna said.

The five-day winter session is likely to be a stormy affair with the opposition planning to corner the government on issues of slow progress on regularisation of unauthorised colonies, price-hike, law and order and corruption.
